Our Teen Fellowship is a virtual and in-person fellowship for girls ages 14-18 years old, with priority given to youth in our partner countries, which include: Brazil, Indonesia, Trinidad & Tobago, South Africa, and Uganda. Applicants must be gender-diverse youth or girls of color with a keen interest in reproductive justice, gender-based violence, and other issues that disproportionately impact children of color. The fellowship offers an amazing opportunity for young girls to participate in building exercises where they learn the following:

Youth Activism

Teen fellows will foster skills to become ambassadors of change in their home countries and to engage in projects on public education, local and international policy, artivism, digital advocacy, community, organizing, and movement building.

Health Equity, Birth Justice & Reproductive Health

We believe education is a fundamental part of activism, therefore we educate our fellows through interactive workshops, informing them about health disparities, infant and maternal mortality, and birth and reproductive health worldwide.

Gender & Racial Justice

Additionally, teen fellows learn about gender-based violence, gender safety, colorism, and the intersectionality of gender and race, in order to apply these crucial topics to their own lives and the activism they do currently in their local communities, with a goal towards activism efforts in future on the global level.

Philanthropy

The history and field of philanthropy is also a major aspect of our fellowship curriculum. We educate teen fellows on wealth distribution, where they partake in first hand grant administrative duties through advisory efforts, community assessments, research, trend analysis, and grantee identification. The philanthropic efforts we teach our fellows go hand-in-hand with the community-centered activism we encourage in the program.

Program alumni

We are fortunate enough to have an amazing group of program alumni who mentor each cohort and take a more active role in grantmaking and board participation in order to guide teen fellows in their activism journey. Our alumni serve as an inspiration for youth activism and advocacy, while making an incredible impact.

We hope that this program aids in the creation of a new generation of leaders who will fight endlessly for themselves and others, addressing  such issues as, gender-based violence, birth and reproductive justice, children in crisis, racial injustice, and so much more. By donating, you can take an active role in fostering the continued education and support of youth leaders and advocates as they create the change we wish to see in the world.

The 2023 Youth Fellowship Cohort developed presentations for the public around Birth & Reproductive Justice, Teen Pregnancy, and Postpartum Depression. These presentations were inspired by a lecture on birth justice given by our President, Tammea Tyler.
