Cherita (she/her) is a wanderer, writer, and scholar from New Jersey. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Rutgers University-Camden and a Master of Science in Education at Walden University. She is a doctoral candidate at Walden University in the Ed.D. program for Reading, Literacy, and Assessment, and her research interests include a focus on critical literacy, racial literacy, and Black feminism. Her research examines how critical literacy, racial literacy, and critical theory may help to create spaces that allow for the exploration of Black women’s lived experiences through forms of expression, such as oral stories, narratives, visual media, and other literary contributions. She currently teaches at a university in New Jersey, where she has taught several writing courses, including composition, creative writing, argumentative writing, and developmental writing. For fun, she likes to binge-watch television shows and relax by any body of water.
