Mona Mahapatra is a graduate student at Rutgers University, where she is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work with a specialization in Management and Policy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics and a Data Analytics Certificate, bringing a strong organizational and analytical foundation to her work in the social sector.
Before transitioning into social work, Mona gained experience in the restaurant and marketing industries. She also volunteered as a teen mentor for four years, during which she discovered a passion for working with young people.
Her social work journey has ranged from supporting newly arrived refugees to pregnant and parenting women to working with sex workers in India. Currently, she serves as a Residential Associate at a facility for pregnant and parenting adolescents, deepening her commitment to reproductive and adolescent justice.
Mona is particularly drawn to the mission of the Global Foundation for Girls, which closely aligns with her interests in adolescent empowerment, reproductive justice, and global advocacy. She is excited to integrate her various business skills with her dedication to advancing equity for marginalized populations.
In her free time, Mona likes running, dancing, reading, and game nights with friends :)
