Our Response: The Buffalo Shooting

On May 14th, the traumatizing mass shooting at Tops Supermarket resulted in the death of ten black people, with three injured.

Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and all the loved ones of those who lost their lives in this horrific and racist act of violence.

The hate-filled shooter, who wrote a lengthy manifesto referencing false “white replacement” theories, has been condemned by many others.

The Global Fund For Girls team loudly adds their voices to this denunciation. The misuse of science and genetic and psychological research is not just blatant, but a disgusting part of the heinous nature of this crime.

We continue to hope for a more peaceful, equitable, and just world. But this is an unwanted reminder that we have a long ways to go.

And we implore people of all races to help in the fight.

As Dr. Martin Luther King stated:

“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people  but the silence over that by the good people.”

Let us run from silence. Instead, always speak up, act up, and let it be known that we all fight against racism, terrorism, and the murder of innocents.

One life lost is too many.
